6 c. shredded cabbage 1/4 c. sugar 1 c. shredded carrots 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/4-1/2 c. whole milk 1/2 c. real mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip) 1/2 tsp. celery seed 2-3 drops hot sauce 3 T. dry minced onion 1/4-1/2 c. buttermilk Mix and chill first 6 ingredients for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, combine mayonnaise, celery seed, hot sauce, minced onion and buttermilk Mix sauce well with cabbage. Chill. Note: A similar recipe to this used 2 T. lemon juice and 1 T. vinegar instead of hot sauce. Serves 4.
