We had it growing up as kids. I even tried it when I first got married. My husband ate it, but said not to make it gain as he didn't care for it...so I have not had any in over 20 years. lol

Yes, we do! We fix it occasionally for Sat. or Sun. breakfast fried. We serve it as we would a ham slice or 2! We also have eggs and hash browns with it. Very good. We also have it occasionally - fried - in a slice of bread (with mustard) as a sandwich for lunch. Good! Not too often, though, 'cause it is full of all the bad stuff for us! Health-wise, that is!

Hi Fishrus!, I've heard SOOOOO MANY jokes about it for SOOOOO MANY years, that I am afraid to even 'think' about trying it! Just has always been made to sound like a hunk of yuck to me, so have had NO DESIRE to even want to sniff it. I know some people do like it, and you are right that there are lots of recipes out there using the stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if someone who really likes it hasn't started up an "I LOVE Spam" website. Bet the actual website for it has recipes from the Spam People themselves. Personally, I think I will just stick with ham and create dishes out of it! I think Spam is suppose to taste like ham, right? We'll be expecting a report about its taste, and what the heck makes it up?!! Always With My Best, Baking Bud

Hi Fishrus!, Well, I went out on the internet to try and find some support for you in your taste for SPAM. Look what I found instead! Haiku's about SPAM: Spam feeds the masses Who have nothing else to eat. Be blessed to avoid it. Spam tastes like rubber It's made from dead pig blubber don't eat evil ham I used SPAM instead of my hair gel this morning. All of the dogs knew Spam is called a meat. But what is it you eat? The nose, the tail, feet? Once a starving young sailor named Sam Who’d washed up on an isle near Siam Started eating his feet But was found by the fleet, And cried out, “Woe is me! Back to SPAM.”<br> Machine removed meat; Snout, jowls, member, all float in Mosaic jello. Under Ground Zero Blue cans in bomb shelter I pray for fallout! Thousand of years on, Civilization is gone Only SPAM lives on U.S. on alert! Threat of meat terrorism Outbreak of SPAMthrax Lonely plate of SPAM Your chewy pinkness lures me Hear my bowels roar Pink fat in can Cholersterol for my heart Have I a death wish? To read more go to: www.spamhaiku.com/spamhaiku/site/view_haiku.phpKnew I had to keep this proper, but I'm still laughing over the KY jelly one! ;D No doubts left in my mind! My Best, Baking Bud

Hey Chris! ;D That LAST Haiku was for you! Stay heart healthy! Eat fish and die of mercury poisoning instead! At least they will marvel looking at your heart saying, "Great Omega 3 and 6 intake!" Don't know about anyone else, but the foods, drinks, and the vitamins we put into our bodies is making me crazy! I gave up coffee for tea, and don't feel I can drink that if I don't offer it a bag of green tea also to make my heart healthier! Of course, next to the green tea sits my green tea capsules, and 25 other supplements that honestly do who knows what?!! But I've got to have them because I've read they are good for us!!! Ignorance must have been BLISS back in the good old days. Lard, fats, etc. to them meant healthy shiny hair and glowing good skin! Now we all visualize what the fats do on the inside, and instead have to buy 10 moisturizers to keep our skin from becoming leathery on the outside!I have so many 'fake foods' it isn't funny. Next I want to conquer my fear of TOFU! I haven't gotten past 'poking it' in the market! But I KNOW it is healthy for me, so I must find a way to consume it. YUMMY. Can't wait to try my recipe for barbecued tofu chunks of yuck. Care to join me?!! We can wash it down with some wine, if we ever figure out which one?!! Off to not eat SPAM! My Best, Baking Bud

Hi Again Fishrus! Thought you'd enjoy this!
Ode To SPAM
Oh SPAM! Oh SPAM! Gourmet delight! My food by day, my dreams by night. To carve, to slice, to dice you up - pureed in a blender and sipped from a cup.
What shining deity from Olympus knelt down to the earth and hog butt smelt? Creating then man's eternal desire for swine entrails congealed by fire.
On some corporate farm, a pig has died. Eyes, tongue, and snout end up inside that cube of SPAM hidden in the can I now hold in my trembling hand.
More than mere food, SPAM is for me a hedonistic expression of gluttonous glee. Mottled with pork fat, the pink cube engrosses. My mouth takes it in, my intestine disposes.
Long have my arteries clogged to the sound of sizzling SPAM when there's no one around - furtively chewing or swallowing whole. Triple bypass by forty, my medical goal.
Other processed meat products I've tried or declined Vienna Sausages, Treet, even pig's feet in brine. Though each may be tasty in different ways, none matches SPAM for gelatinous glaze.
That glistening pinkness beckons me with gristle, fat, and BHT. Oh SPAM! Oh SPAM! - the taste, the smell! The sacred meat product, from Hormel.

PS. Found 3 recipes for you, but I'm not sure where to post them? I'll have to look at the categories and decide 'where' they belong!
