This came in my Dear Abby posts this morning, and thought it might be of interest to someone about to fly! It is the Transportation Security Administration website, where you can see exactly 'what' you can take on a plane, and have other concerns addressed. Their link is: www.tsa.gov/public/index.jspA few extra hints were to bag your personal items and toiletry needs in see through plastic baggies. That way you don't have to have a handler personally handling your unmentionables. They can see RIGHT INTO the bag to know what they are inspecting, and can squish to their hearts contents! I flew at the end of August to pick up my puppy from his breeder. I was glad that I wasn't one specially selected to be taken to the side for an extra wanding and shoes off for inspection. But I know it is a necessary procedure now in the fight against terrorism. Don't be offended if you are picked, but DO wear nice socks or stockings! People are randomly picked, so there is no way to know who gets the extra look over. My husband got wanded 3 times in one flight. He came home annoyed saying, 'Do I look like a terrorist?!" When I asked when making my reservation how that happened to him so many times, she just said he was unlucky > it totally is random and he just HIT the random numbers each time they picked. So fly safely, and ONLY take what is allowed. Amazing that people still are losing their scissors, nail files, etc. when they KNOW these will be confiscated! Take some good emory boards instead! The virus protection we have on this computer would not allow me to open this. Is there any way you could copy and paste the list if it is not too large? Thanks.

Hi Carnation, I went back to the site and I can see it online, but it wouldn't let me bring back a copy. I even sent the page to myself, but then it wouldn't open up on my end. When my son gets home, I will have him take a look and see why I can't drag home a copy for you. I will figure this out! Always With My Best, Baking Bud

PS. Do you fly often? I'd be curious for those that do to hear what experiences they have had on the plane. I had to fly up to get my puppy first with an empty sherpa bag, and then another that held his supplies. I didn't even take a regular purse, just put my stuff in his bag! On the way back I got really scared as they ran his supply bag once through the xray machine, got a puzzled look, and said they had to run it through again. I started getting concerned, for my dog's breeder had sent me home with a baggie filled with a green looking substance. I had taken one look at it and said, "You do know what this looks like, don't you?!" She laughed and said, "Oh if they say anything just show them the catalog showing the product." I said, "Ya right, if I get taken to jail I'm sending for YOU to come and explain this green looking stuff in the baggie!" Could just see myself being arrested and questioned for having 'Sea Meal' for the puppy's food, as it looked just like marijuana!!! Thanks goodness I had the cutest, fluffy little white puppy that everyone was going gaga over. I had to take him out of his bag for scanning with me, and then holding while his bag & the other one were put through the machine. Guess they felt sorry for me and let me go! I was sweating it though! No more flying with Sea Meal for me!!! I learned my lesson!!! These days I say don't fly with 'anything' that someone could even begin to think is something else! Keep checking back! I will get that copied over for you somehow! Always My Best, Baking Bud

Hi Carnation, I emailed you that file. It is pretty large and won't cut and paste to this board. LMK when you receive it. (L)

I haven't flown that much, but like to do it!! Last Feb I flew from PA to NC to bring my mother-in-law home for a visit. Left on Sat morning, came back Sun night. And since it was only scheduled a few days before, I got the pleasure of being randomly checked at every checkpoint, on the way down and on the way back! My MIL also got randomly checked on our return flight...and she was in a wheelchair! Oh dear, I think I must have deleted that message you emailed me as I have not checked this note recently. And if I do not see a name I recognize on my screen I do not open it. But now since I read this, I think I remember seeing a note titled nice site. Now they are suppose to be checking every suitcase that is going aboard the plane. I know you cannot take things in your carryon, but does that mean they will not let you pack those things in the bag they load. Use to be able to put nail clippers, etc in those bags. I was just wondering if they weren't allowing them in the ones they load on the plane...that we don't have access to until we get to our destination.
