1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 6 cups apples (6 large/2 lb) 1/2 cup quick cooking oats 1/4 cup apple juice 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
To prepare topping mixture, in a medium bowl combine sugars, flour, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut in butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
Butter a baking dish (round 8 inch cake dish). Place apples in baking dish. Drizzle with apple juice. Sprinkle with topping mixture. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 14 to 16 minutes or until apples are tender, giving dish half a turn once.
Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla or cinnamon ice cream, if desired.
