If your family seems to be going through the milk, try this milk-stretching trick:
Buy whole milk and mix it half and half with repared powdered milk. You will still get the nutritional value, and could save the cost of 1 to 2 gallons per week, depending on how much you use.
To keep your milk fresher longer (which you might not have to worry about if your family drinks it up a lot), place a pinch of salt in each gallon right after opening it up.
