This is a wonderful recipe! I make it up and freeze it in small rectangular margarine tub( the perfect size for meals as an accompaniment). I then take it out as I want it. My Grandmother's Dressing 6 potatoes peeled and cubed 1/4 cup of butter 2 slices white bread 1 onion chopped 1 Tbs. each granulated sugar and packed brown sugar 1 Tbs dried summer savory 1 Tbs fancy molasses t tsp dried sage 1 tsp white vinegar 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper In large saucepan of boiling saltd water, cover and cook potatoes for about 20 minutes til tender. Drain and return potatoes to pot. with potato masher, mash with butter until smooth. Tear bread into small pieces; add to mashed potatoes in pot. Add onion, granulated sugar, brown sugar, savory, molasses, sage, vinegar, salt and pepper; mix well. Pack into greased 9 X 5 loaf pan. Cover and refigerate for up to one day. To serve slice and lightly brown in a buttered pan to serve warm as a good addition to meals.
