Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding 2 c. milk
1/4 c. butter or margarine
3 c. soft bread crumbs (3 to 4 slices bread)
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon or nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. raisins, optional
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Heat milk and butter over medium
heat until butter
is melted and milk is scalded. Mix remaining ingredients in
ungreased 1 1/2
quart casserole dish; stir in milk mixture. Place casserole
in pan of very
hot water (1 inch deep).
Bake until knife inserted 1 inch from edge of pudding comes
out clean, 40 to
45 min. Serve warm.
MAKES 6 to 8 servings
