An acquaintance of mine makes a wonderful belgium waffle that tastes like pound cake. She won't share the recipe as it's a family secret. Does anyone know of a waffle recipe with a pound cake flavor ? Help ! A new member

Hi and welcome lornajack! I did find this hint somewhere in one of my cookbooks. It may help! Also, check in www.allrecipes.com. They have a few that might do the trick! Chris in NM Belgian Waffles 2 cups Bisquick 1 can ginger ale (Sprite is ok) 1 tbsp veg oil Mix all ingredients and let stand 5 minutes. Proceed as directed by your waffle iron. Belgian Waffles from Betty Crocker's Bisquick Cookbook circa 1971 2 eggs 1 c. milk 2 1/3 Bisquick 2 tbl. granulated sugar 1/4 c. salad oil 1 c. chilled whipping cream 1/4 c. confectioners' sugar* 2 c. sliced fresh strawberries or 1 pkg. (16 oz.) frozen sliced strawberries, thawed & drained confectioners' sugar* Beat eggs in small mixer bowl on high speed 5 minutes or until thick and lemon colored. Stir in milk, baking mix, granulated sugar and oil. Pour batter from cup or pitcher onto center of hot waffle iron. Bake until steaming stops. Remove waffle carefully and break into sections. In chilled bowl, beat cream and and 1/4 c. confectioners' sugar until stiff; fold in strawberries. Put waffle sections together in pairs with whipped cream mixture. Sprinkle each waffle sandwich with confectioners' sugar. 6 servings *powdered sugar

The recipe I use come out of a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. It's our favorite, but it doesn't taste like pound cake. Hope you like it too.
Waffles
2 eggs, separated 1 3/4 cups flour 1 3/4 cup milk 1/2 cup oil 1 Tbsp baking powder
In medium bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. In large bowl mix egg yolks, flour, milk, oil, and baking powder. (I sometimes add a tsp vanilla.) Once all combined, fold in egg whites. Let sit a few minutes while waffle iron heats up. Makes 6 waffles. (Book says it makes 3, but I always get 6 out of this recipe.)

Hi Calliope, I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner....hubby opened my mail and didn't tell me I had a response. I just found your post. I may mix up the batter and pour it over his head !! Thanks for the recipe. The waffles have to be yummy with the vanilla added. Is there any special topping you use ? Thanks again. Lorna

LOL I guess it's my turn to be sorry. I didn't open this thread up before now either. I usually use just butter and maple flavored syrup, but I love it with strawberries and whipped cream. I think that would be my most fave.
