Looking for healthy dog food recipes. Blossom is part blue tick hound and beagle. The vet said she must loose four pounds. I have cut her food back and carrots have become her treats. But after reading the ingredients labels on dry and can dog food I think I'm better off making her own food. thanks ....greengrocer

Most dry dog food is filler and fat.We do have a wonderful section on this web site called Pet Treats. Everything there is all home made for your dog. When my brothers dog was sick she was put on a white rice, peas, carrots and beef burger food mix.Dogs love raw veggies especially carrots and also apples.Be sure to cook the burger threw and drain and rince under hot running water in a strainer before feeding to the dog. Lots of exercise is helpfull to help the dog firm up and loose weight. Good luck with the doggy diet, and I hope this helps you. Lynn

Dogs diet is working. With the vets help we set up a diet plan. In the morning I give her 3/4 cup of pedigree dry food, for dinner she gets 1/3 can of pedigree lean food and 1/3 can of can green beans. Later one small biscuit and all the mini carrots she wants for a snack. So far she has lost 3 pounds since the middle of december. I have up her dry food to 1 cup in the morning because I was worried she loosing weight to fast. So 1 more pound to go. Greengrocer
