1-1/2 lbs. small white onions (about 12 to 15) 1/3 cup unsalted butter 2 Tablespoons sugar
Peel onions, add water just to cover; cook until tender. Drain well. Melt 1/3 cup unsalted butter in large skillet. Add 2 tablespoons sugar and onions. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Serve hot as an accompaniment to meat or chicken
