Mom's Turnips
3 turnips, peeled and chopped 1 pound bacon 4 tablespoons rendered bacon fat 1/2 cup packed brown sugar Directions 1 Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add turnips; cook until tender but still firm. Drain, and transfer to a large bowl to cool. 2 Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Crumble and set aside. Reserve bacon fat. 3 In the large bowl, combine turnips, bacon, reserved bacon fat and brown sugar. Mix together and serve. Makes 10 servings
