Dishwashers are not just for dishes. I put sponges, tooth brushes and holders all in the dishwasher when I run it. Sponges every time but tooth brushes, cup and holder once a week to clean out the built up toothpaste and goo. Disinfects them with hot water too! I also use my dishwasher door as a pouring tray for young children. Spills are easy to clean up! ;D

A good idea April! However be careful if your sponges have any soap buildup in them. I put one in my dishwasher one time and we had soap and water all over the kitchen floor!! Now I put my sponges in the clothes washer with towels. Much safer!
