I don't make my own ice cream. but if you do, you will enjoy this dessert even more:
Rum and Raisins with Vanilla Ice-Cream
Warm a small pan with a handful of raisins and a good glug of dark rum - just warm through. Pour 2/3rds into a serving bowl, pop the ice cream on top and pour the rest of the warm rum and raisins over the top.
Sprinkle with some shaved*, good quality chocolate - I just use crushed and broken chocolate flakes!
Serve with a smile!

*Use a potato/veg peeler and you will get some nice curls of chocolate.
