I used to serve this when the family were young, it was served to the lads and their friends in picnic plastic bowls. I always added a couple of hefty scoops of BBQ sauce.
If you are serving adults, it can be prettied up with mushrooms and ham and of course proper plates.
The ingredients can be prepared in advanced, just pop into a preheated oven 40 minutes before your guests arrive.
Bonfire Night Banger & Beans Casserole Preheat oven to 200oC/400oF
Feeds 8
1 large Onion, finely sliced 2 tsp sunflower oil 1 tsp chilli power (optional, but advisable) 8 chunky pork sausages 2 x 415g cans of baked beans 1 x 425g can chilli beans
Heat oil in a frying pan, add onion and fry until soft and lightly brown. Add the chilli powder, then transfer to a large casserole dish with lid. Brown the sausages in the frying pan, making sure they are nicely browned all round, then add to the casserole. Add the baked beans and chilli beans to the casserole. Give everything a stir through, cover and cook in the oven for 40 minutes and serve piping hot.
I would suggest a good supply of crusty bread, or/and baked potatoes.
