Hi Folks,
I promised myself that I wouldn't do this, but I'm overwhelmed at the moment. My older cousin Nan, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has an appointment on Thursday morning with the pathologist to discuss the needed surgery. My other cousin Richard is slightly younger than me and he is in intensive care after having his left arm amputated as the result of trying to contain streptococcal meningitis.
I would appreciate your prayers for them at this tragic time.

Many thanks to you all.
No changes as yet. Nan is having all sorts of tests, the latest one was an MRI, which she said was no problem. All the various tests are being done to give the surgeons the extent of the cancer spread to other organs. All will be pulled together and results will be given to Nan and her DH on Thursday the 18th.

My cousin Richard has been released from hospital for which he and we are most grateful. My other cousin Nan, is being treated with a tumour shrinking drug and has an appointment at the beginning of August.
Thank you for all your prayers.

My cousin Nan was operated on yesterday at the Western General Hospital. Her DH Jim phoned me in the afternoon to tell me that everything had gone to plan and he would be able to visit at 7pm. I'm going to wait and let him phone me, I think he has enough to deal with - his grandson, Nan and my Auntie Nan. My Auntie who is 86 my cousin Nan's mum, was admitted to the New Royal Infirmary last Thursday, so Jim is going between the two hospitals. His son young Jim had an accident at work last week, he is on crutches - where will it all end?

Nan was a bit brighter yesterday, she seems to think she will get home soon. She has drains and tubes etc, so I will be surprised if she gets home soon.
Auntie was taken for a scan yesterday, no results yet. Social Work are involved. That's a blessing, because young Nan (70) won't be able to do much for a couple of months at least.
Thank you all for your prayers, thoughtful comments and I can just hope that everything will be back to normal soon.

Just spoke to my cousin Nan on the telephone. She is home, a bit sore. Lots of bruising. Her next appointment is next week, the powers that be will have decided by then whether she will need radiotherapy or chemo.
Auntie is still in the hospital, she has chronic osteoporosis and has a spine fracture. Social work is involved, but Auntie is one of those adamant people, she doesn't want strangers in her home and around her. ho hum. Sad, but I'm sure that we will all be in this position at some time.
Once again I would like to thank you all for your prayers and for all the personal messages of support.

My cousin Nan, is recovering slowly from the surgery to her breasts. She will be having a 6 week course of once weekly chemotherapy and a 6 week course of 6 times per week radium.
She has been provided with a catalogue showing the wigs available. She joked that she had been thinking of stopping the tinting of her grey hairs anyway.
She sounds OK and is coming to terms with not being able to do all the things that she usually could do.
Her mum, my Auntie Nan, is still in hospital. Her age is taking its toll on her recovery.
