GERMAN BUNS
2 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/3 cup sugar 1 1/2 tsp Baking powder 1 tsp soda 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup shortening 1 egg 2/3 cup buttermilk
FILLING:
1 egg 3/4 cup packed Brown sugar 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup sultana raisins
Maple Syrup (optional)
Mix together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and soda. Cut in butter and shortening until crumbly. Beat together egg and buttermilk. Stir in to make soft dough. Roll out on a floured surface to an 8 X 12 inch rectangle. For filling combine egg with brown sugar and flour. Spread on dough. Sprinkle with raisins. Roll into a cylinder. Cut into 12 even slices. Place on a well greased pan. Brush with Maple Syrup, if using. Bake 20 -25 minutes at 375*F. Makes 1 dozen
