Bride's Vanilla Cake
1/2 c. butter 2 c. white sugar 8 egg whites 1 c. whole milk 2 c. pastry flour 1 c. cornstarch 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350. Line and lightly grease an angel food type pan or a deep baking pan. Sift dry ingredients before measuring, and again after measuring. Set aside. Cream the butter and sugar together. Add 2 of the egg whites, unbeaten, and beat in well. Then mix the dry ingredients, gently and add alternately with milk. Beat the remaining 6 egg whites until very stiff. Fold into the batter. Turn into the baking pan and bake for 50 - 60 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean. When cold, spread with a marshmallow icing.
