Food for The Gods
9 tbl. crushed saltine crackers 6 egg whites, beaten stiff 1 lb. English walnuts, broken 1/2 lb. dates, chopped fine 2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. white sugar
Mix baking powder in cracker crumbs. Add sugar, then dates and nits. Fold in egg whites. Mixture will be dry and stiff. Bake in greased and floured oblong cake pan in slow oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour. When cool, break into pieces and toss in whipped cream. Makes about 2 cups.

Food of the Gods Cake
3/4 c. graham crackers 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 3 eggs, separated 1 c. nuts 3/4 c. dates
Toss crackers, add sugar and baking powder and mix thoroughly. Add beaten egg yolks, dates and nuts. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and place in a well greased pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.

1/2 lb. pitted and chopped dates 1/2 lb. walnuts, broken into pieces 1 c. granulated sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 5 tbl. graham cracker crumbs 3 eggs, separated
Mix all ingredients, except egg whites, well. Beat egg whites till stiff and fold into well mixed batter. Bake in ungreased pan at 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Scoop - breaking into pieces - into individual dishes and serve warm with sweetened whipped cream.

2 1/2 c. boiling water 1 c. brown sugar 2 tsp. vanilla large Tbl. butter
Batter: 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. whole milk - may use 2% 1/2 c. cooked raisins or chopped dates 1 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder butter - size of an egg
Mix boiling water, brown sugar, vanilla and butter and let boil for a couple of minutes. Put in baking pan and add batter. DO NOT STIR! Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour until batter is done.

Hi Grace! You did just fine! Is this the recipe that you put in the newsletter? Just curious! Actually, it looks like you went to reply and wrote on the bottom of my last one.? I do think so.
