2 1/4 Cups flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 cup sugar 2/3 cup shortening 3 eggs 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup cocoa 1 cup beer 2/3 cup sauerkraut (chopped, rinsed, and drained)
Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time Add beer Add cocoa Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda and powder. Add to creamed mixture slowly, until all is mixed then fold in sauerkraut. Put into a slightly greased 9 by 15 baking pan. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes at 375 degrees F.
Icing: 1 8 oz. cream cheese softened 1/2 cup confectionery sugar 2 T. cream 1 tsp. vanilla
