1 cup sugar 2/3 cup water 2 tablespoon butter 3/4 cup light corn syrup 1 tablespoon corn starch 1 teaspoon salt
Mix together and cook in a heavy large pan over medium heat, stirring constantly until taffy reaches hard ball stage. (A 6-quart pressure cook works great)
Then Quickly add: Several drop of food coloring until you have desired color 2 teaspoon flavoring.
Pour onto a buttered tray. Fold outside edges into center... for even cooling. When cooled enough to handle pull with greased hands in a large figure 8 until taffy turns white and is hard to pull. Twist into a ½ inch rope and cut into bite size pieces. Wrap each piece in waxed paper and store in air tight container (A buttered pie plate works very well. Never use a cold plate as it will brake)
