Anyone have a recipe for candy bacon, the kind not made from real bacon? My grandmother says she use to buy it at a candy butcher, she believes it was made with coconut.
If you don't have that one but another recipe, please share.
Thank you.

I think what you are looking for is the coconut candy that is made in three layers. The top is reddish, the center is white and the bottom is brown and has a slight chocolate taste. It looks like a strip of bacon and is sliced just about 1/4 inch thick. I have eaten this for most of my 60+ years and for the life of me I cannot remember the name of it.(God save us from senior moments). The next time I go shopping, I will look for it and send you the name and the maker.

I've never heard of candy bacon. Sounds interesting. What does the taste compare to??

I have seen this candy in a catalog just yesterday. Check out the web site of The Vermont Country Store. It is called ribbon candy and the main "taste" is coconut. You can order it from the web site, too. www.vermontcountrystore.com/Shop is the link to the site. Good luck! Chris

I think you may be wanting - Coconut Rainbow Strips. www.vermontcountrystore.com - is a site that you can buy the candy but does not sell the recipe. If you will put those words in the search box on the left side you can see their products and determine if that is what you are looking for. I agree with you - it really is good...especially if you love coconut.
