Makes about 5 cups
1/3 cup CRISCO Shortening 1/2 cup finely chopped celery 1/4 cup finely chopped onion 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 3 cups chicken broth 1 cup minced cooked chicken 1 cup half-and-half or light cream
Melt Crisco in a heavy saucepan. Add celery and onion and cook until onion is tender. Stir in flour, seasoned salt, and pepper. Add chicken broth gradually while stirring. Bring to boiling; cook and stir for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in chicken and half-and-half; heat thoroughly.
